About the role

POSITION SUMMARY : The Radiology Service Navigator is a key partner to the radiology team. This team member will provide administrative/ancillary support to the Radiology service line, supporting overall department needs. . Primary support functions include, but are not limited to, managing inbound and outbound phone calls, relaying medical results to referring physicians, and facilitating exam reading readiness for timely and efficient exam dictation by the radiologist. Position: Radiology Service Navigator Department: Radiology-Adminstration Schedule: Full Time ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES: Triage,manage and direct incoming calls from referring physicians, technologists, and Radiologists within a call center environment. Monitor and manage system communication work lists and instant messaging requests - initiate appropriate action based on client guidelines to meet designated turnaround Report on non-compliant physicians with Incidental Finding guidelines and escalate to Departmental designee according to service-line process Communicate with ordering physicians via telephone or EPIC mails when there is an incidental finding for a patient. Record the physician acknowledgement and next steps within EPIC. Communicate findings to ordering providers as dictated within service-line guidelines, often by reading the Connect Radiologists with referring physicians to facilitate timely communication of exam results. Call physicians on behalf of the Radiologists to ensure results are provided to the appropriate health care professional assisting in timely patient care. This includes faxing exam reports upon request. Reply to Radiologist requests for further exam preparation by facilitating exam Document all communication and action taken on individual Assist the Radiologist during downtime situations based on client Acts as a liaison between radiologists, referring clinicians, technologists, and departmental staff. Assist with clerical tasks on an as-needed basis including scheduling, additional phone line triaging, and work list management. The above is not intended to represent an exhaustive list of accountable duties and responsibilities required) JOB REQUIREMENTS REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associate degree or completion of post-secondary coursework in a healthcare-related field (e.g.,medical administration, health sciences, radiologist technology). Experience or training in a radiology, or a call center Completed course work in medical CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS PREFERRED: Certification in medical terminology. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs): Work requires the analytical skills and judgment to interpret data and take the appropriate action in circumstances or situations, which are routine in nature. Recognizes when questions and situations are beyond routine knowledge base and directs appropriately to the Radiologists. Excellent interpersonal and communication Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution Proficiency in handling complex verbal and written Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and radiology information systems (RIS). Ability to work independently Works well in a high stress environment Compensation Range: $23.32- $32.69 This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications.
